Thanks for your recommendation about a pilates tape -- I'm going to go shop tonight for one. I've been wanting to do that for SO LONG, and your comment just finally pushed me over!
This photo -- oh lord -- I am so deathly afraid of snakes, but boy is it another kind of PUSH for me. I use a rattler rubber stamp image in my journal to 'highlight' areas where I'm balking or resisting change or a next step. I actually pushed my chair back from my desk when I saw this photo, that's how strong an image a snake is for me ... but now I can roll my chair back up and really examine the content and at least gaze respectfully on the reptile.
I've been very slowly taking in your blog - I refuse to rush anymore -- but I can say how much I love your photographs!!
Oh, you need to delete that stupid comment above mine that says 'here' -- it's a robot, trying to get your links. You might have to go into your comments set-up and check the box that requires commenters to type in the letters they see -- I finally had to surrender and do that cuz once the robots find you, they're in your comments all over the place!!!
Good luck, Toni, with the pilates! Snakes are very symbolic for me. They are in a lot of my dreams. I'm fascinated with photographing them. These snakes were obliging, and didn't seem too bothered by me. Good thing too, because I think they're copperheads [poisonous]. I saw 3 of them last weekend at 3 different occasions, while walking through the woods. [robot deleted, thanks]
Thanks Brine! The water has a golden color, because of the way our red clay colors the water here in Houston.
Some dream interpretations say that snakes are foreboding of evil, and if they bite you, you will succumb to evil. For me, they're connected with depression, and when they bite me, it's because I've succumb to depression. They don't symblolize the depression itself, just how I feel about depression. In some dreams, I've been bitten and will die, but before I do, I'm going to kill as many of them as I can. I do this with my bare hands and feet. It's pretty gory.
The largest snake I've ever seen in the wild was in Africa. A 12 foot [3 meters?] python was crossing the road at night. It was too dark for me to get a good shot. [I didn't want to get close enough for a clear picture]

fear - of insight
insight - becomes courage
courage - becomes forgiveness
forgiveness - turned inward

OOOOh, I love snakes, pretty. I will have to check out the challenges.
This poem could become a mantra for me as I face my fears everyday, as we all do. The photograph? Stunning! Thank you so much for visiting.
Thanks Mary! I'm really getting a lot out of these challenges.
Thanks Andree! I'm flattered! We could all use a little help in facing our fears.
snakes terrify me, as i grew up in africa!
you dream about them? what does that mean?
